Cheese marinated in a miso

You can marinate various things in miso — most often vegetables, but today we’ll show you how to make marinated cheese.

Ingredients for one bowl:

  • 2 tablespoons of miso (soy, pea, or any other which you prefer)
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of white wine
  • Half a teaspoon of honey
  • Half a teaspoon of sesame oil (if you have it)
  • Any cheese you like (mozzarella, camembert, cheddar, ...)

Method:

  1. Put the miso, sugar, wine, honey, and oil into a plastic bag and mix well.
  2. Add the cheese (cut into cubes) to the bag.
  3. Press out all the air from the bag.
  4. Let it rest in the fridge for at least 1–2 days.
  5. Take the cheese out of the bag, slice if needed, and serve.

The flavor is slightly salty, so you can add the cheese to salads, sandwiches, or enjoy it on crackers.

It tastes wonderful with chili and pairs perfectly with white wine, beer, or Japanese sake :-)
